This will be a fantastic opportunity for our students to enhance their understanding of such a prominent subject.

Key Stage 3 Art students are currently taking part in an exciting new creative project designed to raise awareness of climate change.

Students have initially been working with representatives from Durham County Council in workshops which involved studying the current effects of climate change and the possible future impact of severe weather. Looking at flood maps and national and global environmental data helped them to fully understand the issues we face.

Stage two, which takes place in March, involves pupils using this enhanced understanding to work with a professional artist educator to develop designs which will be installed in the school grounds and local community.

They will be interpreting and adapting nature's forms of line and shape to produce thought provoking and engaging stencil-based artwork for large scale designs, which will be installed on community pavements and walls.
