This week, we have delivered over 50 hand made Easter cards to two of our local care homes, Church View Care Centre at South Church and Eden House at Cockton Hill. We hope the messages inside bring a little joy to our elderly residents this Easter.

The initiative began in our Media Studies department when Year 9 students worked with Mrs Davies-Burton to create cards as part of our carousel programme; this is designed to give students short taster sessions of subjects like Media which are not available to study until Key Stage 4. Cards were also produced by Sixth Form Media students and their friends, along with art students in all year groups.

Each card is hand coloured and embellished to make them completely unique, and what's more, they contain a short pen pal style letter inside to tell the recipient a little about their hobbies and hopes for the future. Cards were gratefully received by Tracey McKerr, Wellbeing Coordinator at Eden House, and Manager at Church View, Jenifer Parkinson, pictured here with some of the cards. They will be stored until Easter Sunday when Care Workers will read them to residents and display them in the day room.
