Mr Collingwood, one of our Art Teachers has recently organised a bake sale in the Common Room with all funds raised going to The Lily Foundation.

The charity supports families affected by Mitochondrial Disease, a long-term, genetic disorder which results in the body being unable to produce enough energy to function properly. One in 5,000 individuals has a genetic mitochondrial disease.

The Lily Foundation was founded in 2007 by Liz Curtis in memory of her daughter Lily, who died from mitochondrial disease at eight months old. Because Liz could find little specialist knowledge or support to help her through her ordeal, she set out to provide answers and a support network for herself and for others in her situation. Now the national charity supports over 1000 families.

Mr Collingwood organised the fundraiser to help raise awareness about the condition and the charity itself. Cakes were donated by staff and students for the event and thanks to the bake sale, over £50 was raised.
