Staff at King James I Academy would like to congratulate students on their fantastic GCSE results, which have been released today. Outcomes across the range of subjects were excellent, and we are delighted to see the continued improvement in results across the academy, following up our excellent OFSTED inspection in February.

English results have built on successes in previous years, and 70% of pupils have achieved at least a good pass in both Maths and English. Results are better than in the last two academic years, which have been so disrupted due to Covid-19. Achievement continues to be excellent in EBACC subjects, including in Geography and Modern Foreign Languages. History results are outstanding, with 64% achieving at least a grade 5 and a third of pupils achieving a grade 7 or above. Science candidates also achieved well, especially in Triple Science courses with several pupils receiving top grades.

In other subjects, Computer Science students have achieved superb results, with 100% of students achieving at least a Grade 5, and 78% achieving a Grade 7 or above. Art, Photography and Drama students achieved 100% pass rates, and vocational subjects have also seen our young people achieve superb outcomes, with an increase in the number of students achieving the highest grade boundaries. 100% of students also achieved a Grade 7 or above in Statistics.

Our special congratulations go to all of our young people, but special recognition is given to Anthony C, who achieved 6 Grade 9’s at GCSE, and the highest grades in his vocational course, giving him an almost perfect set of results! Luke G achieved 3 Grade 9’s and a further 5 Grade 8’s, whilst Holly L achieved 2 Grade 9’s and 6 Grade 8’s at GCSE. We are also especially proud of Katie R, who achieved 3 Grade 9’s and 5 Grade 8’s.

We are delighted that our talented young people have achieved the results they so greatly deserve and are proud that they have demonstrated their talents even more than they have done over the past two years of study. We look forward to welcoming many of them back to King James in our Sixth Form from September, and we know that they will go on to achieve even greater successes.
