Sixth Form students from King James I Academy are celebrating another fantastic set of A2 and AS results. Across all academic and vocational qualifications pupils achieved 100% pass rate and many achieved A*, A and B or equivalent grades. They will now go on to study a range of university courses and undertake apprenticeships in a range of subjects.

The average grade at A2 level was a ‘C+’, and the average grade in vocational subjects was a ‘Distinction’. Pupils achieved particularly well in Maths, with a number of pupils achieving the higher-grade boundaries, and in History, where half of all pupils achieved either an A or B grade. Whilst pupils performed well in all subject areas, results in the popular sports-based and other vocational disciplines were also especially positive.

Top grades were achieved across the range of academic subjects, including Maths, English, Geography, History, the Sciences, Photography and Computer Science, in which all pupils achieved ‘A’ grades. Pupils also achieved the highest possible grades in Psychology, Business, Human Biology, Criminology, Media and Performing Arts.

Our special congratulations go to all of our fantastic pupils, and especially to Aimee B, who achieved an ‘A’ grade in Criminology and a ‘Distinction*’ in both Psychology and Health and Social Care. Aimee will now continue to study Philosophy at the University of York. Adam H, who achieved an ‘A’ grade in Maths and History, a ‘C’ in English and a ‘Distinction*’ in Music will now study Music at Leeds Conservatoire, whilst Brooke M will be studying Creative Writing at York St John University following a triple Distinction* in Creative Media Production and a grade 'B' in Extended Project.

We also congratulate Lucas S, who achieved an ‘A*’ in Maths, an ‘A’ in Computer Science, and a ‘B’ in Chemistry and Further Maths. Lucas is planning to study Computer Science at Northumbria University. Jack W, who has achieved a triple ‘Distinction*’ in Sport, will now undertake an apprenticeship in Sport in a local primary school, whilst Krisztina S, who achieved a Distinction* in Psychology and ‘B’ grades in Criminology and History, will progress to study Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Durham.

As our Sixth Form continues to grow in terms of the rapidly increasing number of pupils on roll, and in terms of the range of academic and vocational options available to our young people, we look forward to further success in the 2022-23 academic year.
