Every Thursday we have thanked and celebrated our wonderful NHS and key workers up and down the country, everyone who is supporting us during the lockdown. It has been difficult living in isolation and having our freedom taken away, and every week we have joined with our neighbours as a community to say thank you.

On the 8th of May 1945, Nazi Germany's surrender marked the End of World War II in Europe. More than one million people celebrated in the streets throughout Great Britain to mark the end of the European part of the war.

Seventy five years on, let us make the anniversary of this day in history, a celebration to remember while honouring all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War Two, from the safety of our own homes. Remember to maintain your social distance to help the country fight it's current fight, against Covid-19.

We want to encourage everybody to decorate their houses. A great opportunity to make bunting, flags and come up with ideas to display along with the rainbows of hope that we see in many windows. Why not bake some cakes and make jam or spam sandwiches for our at home celebration. Dress up or paint your face or do both!

Pipers around the country will be playing The Battles Over at 3pm and we want people clapping, banging pots and singing - at their own house. We want to see red, white and blue in every street. Calling all musicians come outside and play some tunes for your neighbours. Can you sing? Well let your neighbour hear you. It is a traditional British knees up with a twist - you stay at home. Let us make it a party to remember and honour all those who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War Two.

VE Day
