King James Mathematicians finished a close second in the competition.

Last term we hosted an interschool Maths competition for Year 10 students. The competition featured a host of fun maths questions designed to improve problem solving skills and promote a love for the subject.

The event was led by Mrs. Glen, our Director of Learning for Maths, who was keen to show the diversity of the subject and promote uptake at A' Level. Six teams from King James, St John's and Ferryhill Schools competed in the competition with King James finishing in second place to St. John's in an incredibly tight race, which came down to one question in the final round.

In addition to this, and as a testament to the quality of our A' Level Maths provision, Sixth Form students have once again competed in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge with great success. Euan Elliott won Best in Year for Year 13, and Alex Philpott swept the rest of the categories winning a Bronze certificate, Best in Year for Year 12, and Best in School.
