This month, eight of our Year 10 girls travelled to London to take part in our Girls Active Wimbledon trip. The two-day trip is organised each year by our PE Department to promote female participation in sport and to reward students who show dedication in their lessons.

Students are chosen and accompanied by Mrs Stansmore-O'Connor and Miss Short, Director for Learning and Assistant Director respectively and a programme of fundraising events throughout the year helps to subsidise the cost of the trip. This year's travellers were Amelia C, Kaci S, Ruth W, Rebecca H, Elle H, Lauren B, Jasmine W and Beth H.

The group enjoyed excellent seats in Court 1 where they were able to watch three matches - Edmunds v Bolt, Sasnovich v Kvitova and Sangren v Djokovic, and marvel at the strength and stamina of professional tennis players who continued to play despite soaring temperatures.

Each year the trip also includes a much-anticipated visit to a West End theatre; for many this is their first experience of the world-class entertainment London has to offer. This year the group were treated to a performance of the acclaimed Broadway musical, Dream Girls at the Savoy Theatre, which stars Amber Riley.
