Students took a tour of both the City Centre and Headingly Campuses at Leeds Beckett University.

As part of our "Aim Higher' programme, a group of our Year 12 students had the opportunity to enjoy a two-day residential trip to Leeds Beckett University.

On the trip, students visited both the Headingly Campus, which is located just 3 miles away from the heart of the city, and the City Campus, which lies in the centre. At both campuses, students participated in a number of workshops, which discussed topics relating to the higher education application process as well as general University life and how to manage student finance and funding. They were also accompanied by two current University students who discussed University life further and gave the students a guided tour to see the range of facilities such as the cafeteria and library, as well as the recording studios and equipment available for use by University students.

During the trip, students stayed in a shared student accommodation in an attempt to give them a feel for University life. This allowed students to have a taste of independence and the chance to build confidence in their ability to live away from home. They were also given free time to explore the city of Leeds, which gave them an even greater sense of independence and the chance to know what it was like to live in a city environment.

Our Aim Higher residential excursions are extremely beneficial for our students as they help to raise aspirations and prepare students for their future, whether they choose to pursue a degree or continue higher education in another way. Trips take place throughout the year to Universities across the UK including Edinburgh, York, Liverpool, Manchester, Cumbria, Teesside and Northumbria.
