In July, six of our Year 11 students will be celebrating the end of their exams, and marking the beginning of their Sixth Form studies with a three-week-long trip to America. This is the 8th USA experience to take students to Iowa and Chicago.

The trip is organised by Mr Brown and each year demand is great, which means students have to apply by finding a creative way to express why they should be selected. This year the standard was excellent and applications included a story board, video clip, banners and models.

One of the successful applicants, Caitlin S said, "The application and interview process was difficult but it was well worth the effort. This is a trip of a lifetime and I can't wait to go. I have never been on a plane before so it will be a great experience for me."

The trip will start at a summer camp in Iowa where students will take part in activities such as climbing, canoeing, camp crafts and water sports. They will stay in log cabins with American teenagers of the same age and take a canoe trip down the Wapsie River before cooking outdoors and sleeping under the stars.

After a week at camp they will enjoy a day at a water park before taking the drive to Chicago where they will visit the key sites including Millennium Park, The Ledge glass walkway on Willis Tower and Navvy Pier.
