The Punctuation Roadshow

Last term, students in Key Stage 3 were treated to a fun learning experience when the Punctuation Show visited King James. The roadshow is designed to improve overall English skills and confidence in the use of correct punctuation and grammar.

The interactive show uses music, dance and comedy to engage students in a range of literacy-themed activities. The success of the show is attributed to the fact that when we go to the theatre, or to a concert, we remember what we've seen with ease and we talk about it afterwards with our friends. It's an experience that we learn from, and the concept of The Punctuation Show adapts this to the school curriculum.

The show in our Main Hall for around 350 students combined a comedy show, a rock concert and an all-singing, all-dancing literacy lesson to create an impact that students will never forget. It was an excellent refresher for our younger students, who left the morning session with a much better understanding of when an where to use full stops, question marks, brackets, ellipses, speech marks, apostrophes, commas, paragraphs, colons and semi-colons.
