Students and staff in our Learning Support Unit (LSU) will soon be moving to a temporary location within the school. The move will mean that our students with special needs are settled in their new environment long before building work begins.

In advance of their move into the new buildings, and to support the further development of the Academy, the decision has been made to temporarily relocate the LSU and some of our provision.

We are currently refurbishing facilities which can be used to support these students, whilst maintaining some specialist resources, such as our Physiotherapy Room and Medical Room in their current locations. It is hoped that all work will be completed by Easter, and we have enlisted our students to help us with the process and to ensure that we are meeting their every need.

Following feedback from our young people regarding lunchtime facilities, particularly for those with physical difficulties, we will be providing a specific dining area adjacent to the main dining hall, which will be appropriately equipped and decorated.

We will use the former LSU and adjacent rooms to meet the need for Sixth Form work and social areas, which can accommodate our growing Sixth Form numbers and which will provide them with improved facilities and greater independence.

This is an exciting early development which will benefit all of our students, and which will help to support their successful participation in all aspects of school life.
