Nine of our Year 7 students are about to have their creative writing work published in a book entitled "Welcome to Wonderland, Another World', following their success in the national "Young Writers Competition'.

Entitled "Winter Wonderland', the competition challenged young people to create a fictional world before writing a mini-saga in just 100 words, inspired by their imaginative concept. Working with English Teacher, Miss Wharton and our Academy Librarian, Mr Wheatley, students discussed the possibilities of a parallel universe, fantasy realms and a post-apocalyptic world, before getting to work on their entries.

A range of sci-fi, fantasy and adventure-themed pieces were submitted to Young Writers alongside 18,000 other entries from across the UK. Considering the large number of participants, we are especially delighted to be celebrating not one but nine winners, whose work is set to be published in June.

These young writers will now be entered into stage two of the competition, which involves judges selecting five grand winners to receive a Kindle Fire HD. We would like to congratulate our winners on their excellent achievement. Well done to Lennon C, Billiejo R, Morgan S, John-Paul M, Nathan C, Nicholas H, Tyler W, Joshua S and Ross M.
