Our Rising Stars of Year 7.

It is always a glitzy evening when our Annual Prize Evening takes place, with a large number of students being recognised for their achievement in their studies.

An abundance of proud parents, students and teachers attended our prestigious event, which celebrates our hard-working students and their progression within subjects.

Rising Star Awards were presented to our new Year 7 students who have made an excellent impression since joining King James in September; these were nominated by their Form Tutors for both attainment and effort. Awards were also given to nominated students in all year groups for achievement and talent in academic and vocational subjects.

Talented athletes were recognised with a number of specialist games trophies and special awards were given to both individual recipients and to group winners who had made a significant contribution to our Academy. Our aspiring musicians also showcased their talent in two musical performances as part of the event.

Acknowledgment and well-deserved praise was also given to the parents, staff and governors who continuously work together to nurture and support our young people and to help them achieve so highly. Head Teacher, Mr. Grieveson, Deputy Head Teacher, Mr. Whitehead and our Chair of Governors, Mrs. Elizabeth Varley presented the attainment and achievement awards and prizes to our students throughout the evening.

The official renaming of the Val Reed Sports Hall with our Guest of Honour, Helen Attley, daughter of Val Reed, took place in memory of Mrs. Reed who dedicated many years to the successful development of our community sports facility. Friends of Mrs. Reed and members of the Ladies Games Group, which she formed, attended for the official unveiling. Mrs. Attley presented the Val Reed Memorial Trophy to the first ever recipient of this award for Sport and Achievement and stated that her mother would have been incredibly honoured that her legacy lives on at King James.
