Students from Years 7, 8 and 9 have visited the National Cycling Centre in Manchester to take part in coached sessions designed to introduce them to cycling as a competitive sport.

The first group of students took to the Velodrome to try their hand at indoor track cycling, the high speed sport that has seen growing interest following the Olympic success of athletes such as Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton. Meanwhile, a second group headed for the indoor BMX track for a session with World No 1 BMX cyclist, Shanaza Reade. Students enjoyed a demonstration from the expert before trying out the custom built ramps. It was a thrilling day for all involved.
