Students in all year groups enjoyed the opportunity to speak direct to industry professionals.

This month, students in all year groups have enjoyed the opportunity to explore the university and career opportunities available to them once they have completed their secondary school education.

Representatives from a diverse range of local and national businesses and organisations joined us for our annual Careers Event, which is designed to help students understand the different pathways into the career of their choice. The incredibly popular event, which is organised by Mrs Dent and Miss Goddard, significantly helps our young people to begin thinking about their future and focus on the qualifications and skills they will need to ensure that they are equipped to realise their goals.

The event encourages our younger students in Year 7-10 to begin considering their career path at a much earlier stage, whilst students in Year 11, who are now in their crucial examination year often feel more driven, motivated and inspired to continue believing in their ability to succeed. Talking to industry professionals helps to establish a firm career choice, and students can then focus on achieving the necessary entry requirements. Sixth Form students were able to talk to representatives from a number of universities, consider the wide range of apprenticeship schemes available, and learn about the range of career incentives offered by each organisation.

This year, more organisations took part in the event than ever and students took full advantage of the opportunities to ask specific questions, collect printed materials to share with their parents, and enjoy the variety of interactive activities.

We would like to thank all of the organisations for their excellent contribution and continued support of our young people who will soon become our future workforce; Army, Bishop Auckland College, BL Hairdressing, CA Roofing, Civil Service, Cleveland College of Art and Design, Darlington Building Society, Darlington College, DCC ICT, Durham University, East Durham College, EE, Esh Group, Gestamp Tallent, Glaxo, Hathaway Roofing, Hays Travel, Hydram Engineering, Itec, King James 1 Academy Sixth Form, Livin, Navy, New College Durham, Newcastle University, Northumbria University, RAF, S W Durham Training, Sedgefield Sports Partnership, Sunderland University, Teesside University, Ulster University.
