Each year, we celebrate the success of our young mathematicians as they take part in the prestigious UKMT Maths Challenges; this year was no exception.

Over 250,000 pupils from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenge, with the top 6% receiving a Gold certificate, the next 13% Silver and the next 21% Bronze; our students achieved 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 8 Bronze. Year 7 student, Lucas S, pictured front, received Best in School, Best in Year and a Gold certificate; and Sophie D, Adam H, Emily R and Lee D all received Silver. Lee, in Year 8, also received Best in Year. Ben B, Shaye K, Amelia P, Oliver O, Matthew P, Riley J, Kaci S and Oliver D all achieved Bronze certificates.

Likewise, in the Intermediate Challenge, students in Years 10 and 11 achieved 3 Silver and 4 Bronze certificates. Over 200,000 pupils sat this level and Abigail S received Best in School, Best in Year and Silver certificates. Patrick C and Brent E both received Silver and Euan E, Kyle O, Steven R and Alex P all received Bronze, with Brent and Steven also receiving Best in Year certificates.

Year 8 and 9 mathematicians, Riley J, Emily R, Abbi S and Marshall G, also teamed up to participate in the annual UKMT Team Challenge, achieving a near-perfect score on the cross-number round. Congratulations to all who took part.
