Year 7 and 8 athletes were a credit to King James at the event.

The Secondary School Athletics Championships, which was held at Shildon Athletics Track, was a cause for celebration for King James students when our Year 7 boys won their category.

Four schools took part in the event alongside King James, including Barnard Castle, Bishop Barrington, Greenfield Community College and Parkside. The event saw students compete in a range of athletics events such as 100m, 200m, 300m, 800m, 1500m and relay track events, and field events including High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Putt and Javelin.

All students performed exceptionally well and attitudes were outstanding, particularly the Year 7 boys team consisting of Dylan N, Dylan H, Kyle B, Charlie R, Daveylee D and Blake S, whose combined individual points earned them the Year 7 Boys title.

King James school records were also broken in various track events by Dylan N, Molly R, Laura D and Kyle B, who shattered the 1500m record which had stood for over 8 years!
