Award-winning children's fantasy adventure novelist, Niel Bushnell has recently visited King James I Academy to work with aspiring young authors.

The visit, which was part of the Academy's ongoing initiative to promote reading for pleasure among young people, included an inspirational talk, Q&A session and a practical workshop in creative writing. Students also enjoyed an opportunity to meet the author at a book signing session, where they were able to get personalised copies of the hugely successful novels, "Sorrowline' and "Timesmith', the first in the series of the "Timesmith Chronicles'.

Students were both fascinated and inspired by the diverse career path that Niel has enjoyed. Originally working in animation, he has worked on feature films such as Space Jam and Lost in Space, computer games including Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and TV shows such as Tracy Beaker Returns and Doctor Who.
