February 2016

Stop the press…hold the front page! King James Press Hounds are planning their media scoop for the BBC School's Report. This is just one of many new English initiatives!

Working with English Teacher, Mrs Read, a group of Year 9 students will soon be swapping their classroom lessons for a day of news reporting, joining in with hundreds of schools across the country to take part in the BBC School's Report 2016. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable practical experience within different aspects of English, and to learn about how it is applied in industry.

During the lead up to the event, which will take place in March, the team will be researching which topics are affecting our area and analysing what matters most to us as a community. On the day, students will be sniffing out the most contentious issues of the week and reporting live, as the news breaks, via King James FM, our Academy radio facility. They will also be crafting their hard-hitting news reports ready to post online and for publishing in print. All of the latest updates on the project and breaking news will be posted on our website.
