The Mayor of Bishop Auckland is introduced to the latest newborn by Year 11 student, Georgia S.

The Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Cllr Lee Brownson demonstrated excellent babysitting skills during a recent visit to our Health and Social Care Department.

Cllr Brownson was introduced to the latest edition in our family of simulator newborns, which are used to provide students with an insight into childcare through a variety of programmable computer settings. Each baby can be programmed to simulate a range of realistic scenarios faced by new parents, from the every day care of infants to the variety of common health issues such as colic and teething or more complex problems that require medical intervention.

The Mayor coped admirably with the sleeping baby boy, who remained peaceful in his arms; he also took part in the department's "Name the Baby' competition, which is one of a well-planned programme of fundraising activities set to take place over the coming months.

Sixth Form students, who are organising the fundraising drive, have planned a number of activities including a Christmas Staff/Sixth Form Student Quiz Night. All funds raised will help the department to extend the family further, with a newborn baby girl to fill the pink pram which has already arrived!
