January 2015

Students in all year groups are looking forward to a variety of opportunities to travel as part of their learning.

Maths students in Years 10, 11 and Sixth Form will be visiting Disneyland Paris to take part in a fascinating educational seminar which investigates how Maths and Physics combine in the design of roller coasters. This inspirational trip forms part of our commitment towards driving forward STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.

A group of students, accompanied by Miss Howard, will soon be making the first of three planned trips to Brazil as part of our global learning programme.

Following the success of last year's working trip to Glastonbury Festival, twelve Sixth Formers in years 13 and 14 have been interviewed and selected to represent King James as Volunteer Crew Members at the 2015 event in June. Students applied in writing for the available positions and were formally interviewed by trip organiser, Mr Longstaff, one of our Assistant Head Teachers, who will be leading the team. The trip will involve working in a variety of roles such as litter picking and cleaning each morning, however the team will also be free to enjoy the evening show.

Watch out for full stories and photos from each visit in Vision magazine and in our online news.
