This year's trip to France was yet another resounding success, with 36 students in Years 7 and 9 travelling to Paris for an action-packed, four day break.

The trip, which is organised each year by our Modern Foreign Languages Co-ordinator and Teacher, Miss Stephenson, takes place during the last week of the academic year. It offers students the opportunity to explore Paris, experience the culture and cuisine of the country they have studied in lessons, and to practice their French vocabulary and pronunciation.

In Paris, the group visited the Eiffel Tower and enjoyed an informative sightseeing cruise on the River Seine. During their time in the capital, students used their French skills effectively to communicate with local people, find their way around the city, order meals and make purchases.

The trip also included a fun-packed visit to 'Parc Asterix', a large theme park based on the cartoon stories of Asterix and Obelix, which students had already been studying in class. There, they enjoyed a thrilling day of roller coasters, rides and live shows, all themed around historic cultures such as the Egyptians, the Romans, the Vikings and the ancient Greeks.

Back at school, the group agreed that even though the trip had ultimately been lots of fun, they had also learned a great deal and felt more confident about speaking French in future. Many said that the trip had given them an increased sense of independence and a thirst for travel too.
