A group of students in Year 10 have recently enjoyed a taster session of Rock Climbing thanks to portable facilities provided by Consett and District YMCA.

The rock climbing wall provided an excellent opportunity to complete part of their Sports Studies, offering three faces of increasing difficulty upon which to test their strength, flexibility and endurance. For some, the activity was also a test of courage and a chance to overcome their fear of heights.

Students did exceptionally well and some demonstrated a natural talent for climbing that they would like to develop further. In response to this, Mr Ramsey hopes to launch a Climbing Club as an enrichment activity in the coming year.
