Making bubbles at the Science Festival

A group of Year 9 students who are interested in pursuing STEM related careers recently visited Durham Science Festival to join in a carousel of Science and Technology team challenges.

The day began with an energy challenge where students had to design and test wind turbines in a wind tunnel. Students learned to make energy load profiles and were mentored by a PHd student who is currently working on offshore wind farm technology.

They especially enjoyed the "Cool Chemistry' session where they learned about the structure of modern polymers. Turning slime into bouncy balls and making bubbles provided the fun!
