Sixth Form Drama and Performing Arts students have recently spent two days in London discovering the progression routes into a career in the Arts as part of our Aim Higher programme.

The group first visited the Theatre & Performance Exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum before spending the afternoon at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama; this University Drama School has already seen students from King James gain successful degrees in the arts. Here, our students were treated to a tour of the campus and a workshop with student ambassadors, followed by a Masterclass with actor, Martins Imhangbe.

On day two, the group enjoyed a backstage tour of the National Theatre; this was a wonderful experience which took them behind the scenes of the three theatres on site, as well as to the scenic workshops, props and wardrobe areas, giving them an excellent insight into the workings of a theatre. The group rounded off the trip with a visit to The Globe Theatre. All of the students were extremely enthusiastic about the packed itinerary and the impact it had on their understanding of the Arts industry.
