Rewarding Excellent Year 9 Role Models

June 2019

A group of 15 of our Year 9 students have been recognised for their positive contribution to King James in a special event in our Library.

Our school is full of students who give 100% every day. They work hard in lessons, have excellent attendance records, get involved in events with enthusiasm, are respectful to everyone around them and have a positive attitude at all times. They are an inspiration to staff and students alike, and we believe in recognising the contribution they make to King James.

This week, we held a special event to celebrate a group of outstanding Year 9s. Students were recommended for an award by their Head of Year, Miss Short, based on the impressive number of achievement points they have earned this year in Class Charts, combined with their positive attitude towards our Academy Standards. Award winners were: Ellie S, Charlie M, Chris S, Josh J, Luke W, Josh M, Jessica B, Harrison T, Ella D, Daisy B, Iben K, Ross M, Charli E, Jake D and Robert D.

Students were served luxury hot chocolate and cookies in the library by Assistant Head Teacher, Mrs Aitkin, and were presented with a certificate from Mr Grieveson, who thanked each one personally for being such a good role model in school.

We are always exploring ways to recognise the achievements of students in all year groups. We understand that not all young people are high academic achievers so students are nominated and commended for many other things such as effort, resilience, acts of kindness and dedication to their school or local community.

Six of our Year 10 students and six Year 11s are about to embark upon the ultimate reward trip to Spain where they will enjoy six amazing days sightseeing in both Madrid and Barcelona. Again, students were selected based on the number of positive achievement points they had earned combined with their excellent attendance, behaviour, attitude to learning and high level of respect they show for others.

Reward events for students in Years 7 and 8 will take before the end of term.
