The King James I Academy squad were runners-up in the tournament.

A 10-man King James Year 7 and 8 squad were recently lucky enough to take part in the first ever Angry Birds Egg Cup Football Tournament at Goodison Park, the home of Everton FC.

More than 160 students from 16 schools battled it out to be crowned the first Angry Birds Egg Cup Champions. Despite having gone 7 games undefeated, our team eventually finished in runner-up position when they lost the 8th and final game 1-0 at the hands of the overall competition winners.

The team were a real credit to the academy, only conceding 2 goals in the entire 8 games that they played. Jake D starred for King James, scoring 3 goals and setting up a number of goals for others.

As well as having the opportunity to play at a Premier League ground, all pupils received a 2018/19 Everton shirt and a range of Angry Birds goodies, all completely free of charge. It was an excellent experience overall.

We would like to congratulate our squad on what was a fantasic effort. They received their runners-up medals from former Everton and England and South Africa internationals, Leon Osman and Steven Pienaar.
