Race to the Line with RAF Leeming Bar

The winning team show off their racing car following the STEM event with representatives from RAF Leeming Bar.

As part of our extensive programme of STEM activities, students in Year 7 have been designing and building a motor-powered car.

Our STEM programme is designed to encourage young people to consider pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through a range of special events, educational visits, practical activities and design challenges.

The 'Race to the Line' challenge saw students work in teams of four to develop a car which they then raced in a special event hosted by visitors from RAF Leeming Bar.

The design team of the fastest car, who are pictured here, later enjoyed a visit to the RAF base where they developed their prototype further in preparation for the regional competition
