Sixth Form students demonstrated their baking talents.

Our Sixth Form students and staff have recently raised a fantastic sum of over £200 at a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Linda Dixon, one of our Sixth Form Mentors helped to encourage students to take part and coordinated the event. She said, "This particular fundraiser really helped to bring students and staff together. Some of the students use our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning event to showcase their baking skills: it is a way to not only help such a credible charity but it also promotes participation from students."

Some students got involved by revealing their baking talents, whilst other participants donated pre-made goods; all were equally welcome and edible! A number of fundraising activities were encouraged by our staff and students involved in the coffee mornings, which were held over two consecutive days to maximise donations and student awareness.

Mr Shearer, the Head of Sixth Form was delighted but not surprised at the enthusiasm of our students. He said, "Our Sixth Formers regularly show kindness and compassion towards their peers and members of the local community, but their support for this fundraising event has exceeded my expectations. We are already planning our next fundraising venture, which will unite students in all year groups in a food collection project. We will be collecting non-perishable food donations throughout the coming weeks, which will help our local food bank to support the less fortunate members of our community. This is particularly important both before and during the Christmas period."

A huge thank you to all of our students and staff that helped to make the event such a huge success; the support is much appreciated!
