We have now reached the end of our ten-week long Premier League Reading Stars programme in our Library and are delighted to announce that our Year 7 boys have made fantastic progress.

The football-themed reading initiative from the National Literacy Trust is designed to improve literacy levels and promote a passion for literature in young people through a variety of themed activities. As part of the programme, students have read a selection of football focused books and have taken part in a variety of themed challenges and activities; the group have also celebrated their achievements with a special reward trip to St James Park.

The final session with the group was an awards ceremony in which participating students reviewed their learning and were given a certificate for their achievement. Overall the group have made significant progress and improved their reading ability considerably, however Jack L was named 'Player of the Season' for being the student that has made the most progress over the course of the scheme; he received a certificate and book prize for his efforts.
