As part of our drive towards improving literacy skills among our young people, we have launched an exciting new reading initiative called 'Premier League Reading Stars'.

The scheme, from the National Literacy Trust, which has been launched this month with a group of Year 7 football fans, includes exclusive branded materials for schools, which complement Premier League Football, and a range of exciting challenges to support literacy.

The programme is designed to encourage the same passion for reading as students have for the sport and sessions will take place in our library during Enrichment periods. Lasting for ten weeks, the programme will include a visit to St. James' Park, as well as an opportunity to win Premier League tickets! By taking part in the scheme, students are expected to improve their reading age by six months.
