Students in Years 10-13 have recently attended a Careers and Education Fair organised by Miss Goddard, our Careers Advisor and members of our Sixth Form Team.

Representatives from a number of local and national organisations including The Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, ITEC, EE, Bishop Auckland College, CA Group Ltd and many more joined us at King James for the event which offered students practical advice on the many opportunities open to them once they have completed their studies.

With information on apprenticeships, entering the forces, seeking employment and on both higher and further education opportunities, the event allowed students to fully consider the options for their future and to begin making a long-term career plan. This event will soon be followed up by one-to-one interviews with Miss Goddard and Mr Shearer, our Head of Sixth Form, in which students can discuss their ambitions and ask specific questions to help them make informed decisions. We will also be helping them to embark upon a personal development plan to ensure that they will be fully equipped with the necessary qualifications and life skills to progress on to the career of their choice.

We would like to thank all of the organisations for their support in making the event a success: New College Durham, Access to Training, Bishop Auckland College, Royal Navy, SW Durham Training, Sedgefield Sports Partnership, North East Ambulance Service, Shepherd Construction Ltd, Glaxo Smith Kline, Livin Housing Association, ITEC North East, Job Centre Plus, Rising Stars, Clece Care Services and EE.
