Following nomination by a number of our Sixth Form students for the Journal's prestigious North East Schools Awards 2014, Linda Dixon was declared winner in the category of Support Worker of the Year.

Although Linda works primarily with Sixth Formers, she is well known and loved by students across all year groups for her caring attitude and patience. However, she provides our Sixth Form students in particular, with an outstanding level of support with anything they need, from help with coursework to advice about life. This award recognises her hard work and is well deserved.

Linda said, "I was extremely flattered to have been nominated for the award, especially when that nomination came directly from students, but actually winning it is very special. I have worked at King James for 15 years and love my job; every day is different and it is a privilege to be part of the children's lives."

Sixth Form student, Charlotte B said, "Linda goes above and beyond as a support worker; she even comes into school at 7.00am when we have exams to make us breakfast and help to keep us calm. She really deserves the award and we are all so pleased she has won."
