King James Mourns the Loss of a Valued Friend and Supporter

We are very sad to announce that Lez Rawe passed away in the early hours of this morning, following a short illness and following the loss of his wife, Betty, a few months earlier. Lez will be sadly missed by the students, staff and governors at King James I Academy.

Lez was a long-time supporter of the school and his history is inextricably linked with our own. In 2015 the new school building was dedicated to Lez as a man who exemplified the qualities we promote in the young people we educate. We send our condolences to Pauline and to the rest of his family and friends. He will be long remembered by those who had the privilege to meet him.

Gibson’s Funeral Services of Bishop Auckland will be arranging the funeral and memorial service and further details will be available from the family in due course.
